Après sa superbe participation solo sur la compilation Dark Was The night, le dandy timide écossais révèle les détails autour de son projet God Help The Girl, mis en route voilà 5 ans. Outre la particularité d’être conçu comme la bande-originale orchestrale d’un film imaginaire, la voix de Belle & Sebastian s’efface pour laisser le « chant » libre à la belle inconnue Catherine Ireton (The Go Away Birds) sur 10 des 14 titres qui composent le projet. L’album comprend également des duos avec Murdoch et Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy). Le premier single « Come Monday Night » est déjà en écoute sur le site officiel ou Myspace. Le disque paraîtra le 22 juin sur Rough Trade.
